Counsellor specialising in grief & loss

“You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same nor would you want to.” - Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

So much of our grief goes unattended. We lose someone or something we love and find ourselves in a lonely and unfamiliar place. If we are lucky, others want to support us and help us through and often it is what we need to feel better. But how do we care for ourselves when we are left reeling and trying to find our way back to a sense of normalcy, where contentment seems impossible?

Loss is always a very personal and unique journey. What might help you can be very different for someone else.

Some of us find talking and being witnessed hugely helpful, others find solace exploring ideas for a memorial or devising a daily or weekly ritual that is deeply personal and comforting to them. Perhaps you are now free to explore a long held dream yet it all feels too much and you don’t know where to start? Or maybe you are so sad it’s difficult to even get out of bed.

Please feel reassured that these feelings are normal following a bereavement. However, and speaking from personal experience, this is also a very painful place to remain. By working together, you and I can tend to the places within you or your world that may be stuck and are stopping you from feeling better.

ABOUT ME

I began my training as a counsellor in 2004 studying Transactional Analysis which is a humanistic therapy, at Metanoia in London. I successfully completed three years of an Msc (transcripts available) but then chose not to pursue the academic qualification. The intricate theory is fascinating to many but I prefer to stick to the simple tenets of TA (how we feel, communicate with each other and take responsibility for our actions) and incorporate it in to a more soulful practise with elements of mindfulness and CBT.

In recent years, after suffering great loss within my own life and experiencing the profound shifts and growth loss often brings, I felt compelled to explore how I might find meaning helping others who are grieving.

Having found great solace from the works of Elizabeth Kubler Ross and her mentee and friend David Kessler, it was my honour to then train personally with David. I graduated as a Grief Educator in 2024.

The Comfort of Home

I also have a great interest in how our homes support and nurture us, especially at the times when we need to tend to a broken heart or take time to regroup. In my past career as an interiors stylist and designer, I always saw the undeniable need for aesthetic appeal but placed the greatest importance on meaningful objects and how my clients actually felt in their homes. That’s something we could look at too if it appeals to you.

In the early 2000s I moved from London to the Cotswolds with my family and renovated three 18th century barns. It brings me great joy to marry my creative skills with a service that is truly meaningful to me and you can learn more at my other site The Eternal Thread.
