Counsellor specialising in grief & loss
“You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same nor would you want to.”
- Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
So much of our grief goes unattended. We lose someone or something we love and find ourselves in a lonely and unfamiliar place. If we are lucky, others want to support us and help us through and often, in time, it is what we needed to feel better. But how do we care for ourselves when we are left reeling and finding our way back to a sense of normalcy and contentment seems impossible?
Loss is a personal and unique journey. Some of us find talking and being witnessed hugely helpful, others find solace exploring ideas for a memorial or devising a daily or weekly ritual that is deeply personal and comforting to them. Perhaps you are now free to explore a long held dream yet it all feels too much and you don’t know where to start? Or perhaps you are so sad it’s difficult to even get out of bed.
Together we can tend to the places within you or your world that might feel stuck.
Counselling may not be for you, sometimes we just need a safe and comforting environment while we grieve. I have a great interest in ‘home’ as a sanctuary and the practical ways the right environment can support us. If the place where we live is irrevocably changed by the loss of someone or we find ourselves living in a new and unfamiliar place after a separation, it can be very helpful to gain some control by exploring what could change physically and energetically within that space.
We cannot circumnavigate grief, the only way through is through but we can take practical steps to strengthen ourselves as we find our way.
ABOUT ME
I trained as a counsellor in 2004 at Metanoia in London. In recent years, after suffering great loss within my own life and experiencing the profound shifts and growth loss often brings, I began to look at how I might help others with their process.
I have always found great solace in the works of Elizabeth Kubler Ross and her mentee and dear friend David Kessler. It has been my honour to train personally with David and I graduated as a Grief Educator in 2024.
The Comfort of Home
Our homes can support and nurture us especially when we are tending to a broken heart.
In my past career as an interiors stylist and designer I always saw the undeniable need for aesthetic appeal but placed the greatest importance on objects that resonate on a personal level and how my clients actually felt in their homes. That’s something we could look at too, if it appeals to you.
In the early 2000s I moved from London to the Cotswolds with my family and renovated three 18th century barns. It brings me great joy to marry my creative skills with a service that is truly meaningful to me.
Please also visit my other site The Eternal Thread if you are interested in commissioning me to design a memorial quilt or cushion for you, or something special for the garden.
